The wife of Anambra State governor, Nonye Soludo, has called for improved welfare and support for vulnerable children across the country.
She made the call during visits to motherless children’s homes as part of activities marking Mothering Day.
In a statement issued on Monday, Soludo said children, especially those in orphanages, need consistent care, compassion and a sense of belonging.
She said: “Yesterday, ‘Mothering Sunday’ went beyond celebration; it became a moment of pure compassion and love.
“Sharing laughter, warmth, and hope with my children at the orphanage reminded us of the true essence of motherhood, caring for the vulnerable and putting smiles on faces that need it the most.
“Because sometimes, the greatest gift we can give is kindness, and the joy it brings is priceless.
“This is exactly what it means for me to have a fulfilled celebration. Have a happy and prosperous week ahead.”
Soludo, founder of the Healthy Living with Nonye Soludo initiative, said kindness and attention remain essential to the development and wellbeing of children.

She noted that children form the foundation of society and deserve support that assures them of a brighter future.
Nonye Soludo also commended mothers for their role in raising children and sustaining values within communities, describing their contributions as vital to peace, unity and development.
