According to police spokesperson DSP Udeme Edet, earlier reports claiming that the victims were JAMB candidates are not true. She explained that those abducted were simply travellers on a Benue Links bus heading to Makurdi.

In a dramatic twist, the Commissioner of Police, Ifeanyi Emenari, revealed that some victims have already been rescued during a joint operation inside Amla Forest.

The rescued passengers are currently receiving medical care, while security operatives continue combing the forest for those still missing.
