US singer D4vd has been arrested on suspicion of murdering a teenage girl who went missing last year, according to police in Los Angeles.
The Los Angeles Police Department said the 21-year-old was taken into custody and is being held without bail. Authorities confirmed that the case will be presented to the District Attorney’s office on Monday.
D4vd, whose real name is David Anthony Burke, was the subject of a grand jury investigation into the death of 14-year-old Celeste Rivas Hernandez, whose remains were discovered in September 2025 inside a Tesla linked to him.
Police said he was arrested “for the murder of Celeste Rivas,” marking a major development in a case that has remained under investigation for months.
The teenager had been reported missing by her family in April 2024 after previously running away from home. Her remains were later found in a Hollywood tow yard after authorities responded to reports of a strong odour coming from the vehicle.
The Los Angeles County medical examiner described the body as severely decomposed and said the cause of death had not yet been determined, with investigations ongoing.
Officials also said the remains may have been in the vehicle for several weeks before discovery.
Authorities previously treated the matter as a death investigation while gathering evidence, and a judge later ordered the sealing of some records linked to the case.
Investigators had earlier identified D4vd as a “target” of the grand jury proceedings, according to court filings.
The singer, known for the track Romantic Homicide, had reportedly been cooperating with authorities through representatives, while remaining largely silent publicly on the matter.
He has since faced professional fallout, including the cancellation of tour activities and the loss of brand partnerships.
