Will US and Iran agree before the ceasefire deadline ends?

Meanwhile, Pakistan has been trying to mediate between the two sides and is waiting for Iran’s final confirmation on participation in the next round of discussions.

Why is Pakistan waiting for Iran’s confirmation on talks?

Pakistan’s information minister said Iran had not formally confirmed whether it will attend the talks in Islamabad. Iranian officials have also raised concerns over recent US actions, including a blockade in the region, calling them “unacceptable.”

Tensions remain high as both countries continue strong statements. US President Donald Trump said that if no deal is reached, “lots of bombs will start going off.” He also made it clear he does not support extending the ceasefire beyond the deadline. On the other hand, Iranian officials said they have “new cards on the battlefield,” signaling they are prepared for further escalation.

Iran has also accused the US of pushing demands under threats, while Washington insists Tehran must return to negotiations.

Could tensions over oil routes trigger a bigger conflict?

In a separate development, US forces reportedly boarded a sanctioned oil tanker in international waters, increasing tensions further. The move comes as control over the strategic Strait of Hormuz remains a key issue in negotiations. The US says it wants free and uninterrupted shipping through the route, which carries a major share of global oil and gas.
