Nigerian singer and songwriter Qing Madi has accused her former record label of allegedly attempting to derail her music career.
The claim followed the removal of her latest single, Pepper Me, from Spotify, which sparked concerns among fans.
In a series of Instagram stories that were later deleted, the 19-year-old artiste alleged that the same individuals who were previously accused of frustrating singer Cynthia Morgan are now targeting her.
She also claimed the label once filed a $1 million lawsuit against her but lost the case, adding that her continued progress appears to be upsetting them.
“Lol, my ex-label, the same people that tried to destroy Cynthia Morgan, are trying to do the same to me. It’s paining you that I didn’t give up even after suing me for 1 million dollars and losing your case,” she wrote.
Qing Madi further stated that she usually avoids online controversies in order to focus on her music, but criticised her former label for taking down her song at a time it was gaining attention. She also directly called out Joy Tongo, asking to be left alone, and vowed she would not suffer the same fate as Cynthia Morgan.
“Cynthia Morgan cried and was silenced. It won’t happen with me,” she said.
Despite the dispute, Qing Madi assured fans that Pepper Me would be restored to streaming platforms. She added that her silence should not be interpreted as an attempt to protect her former label, stressing that her priority remains her music.
“I’ll resolve it, don’t worry. The song will be up again. Just because I chose to keep quiet doesn’t mean I care about protecting your image. I just want to do music, that’s all. But you want to play dirty. I’m 19, bro. Let me be!!!” she added.
