Nigeria leading ground handling firm, Skyway Aviation Handling Company (SAHCO) has renovated and equipped the Mafoluku Senior Grammar School (MSGS) laboratories block with science and agricultural equipment in what the management described as parts of efforts to ensure students increase their interest in sciences.
The project included the equipping and upgrading of four key science laboratories, covering the disciplines of chemistry, physics, home economics, and agricultural science.
Speaking, Sahco Chairman, Dr Taiwo Afolabi emphasised that Nigeria’s vision of becoming a technological and industrial giant rests squarely on the attention, commitment and resources devoted to the development of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) especially at the secondary school level.
He explained that “At SIFAX Group and SAHCO, we believe that education remains one of the most powerful tools for transforming lives and shaping the future of any nation. Beyond classrooms and textbooks, students need access to practical learning environments where knowledge is tested, curiosity is awakened, and innovation is born.”
Dr Afolabi, who was represented by his Special Assistant Hamid Adebowale affirmed that “When we support education, we invest in a better society, a stronger economy, and a brighter future for all.”
On her part, Managing Director of Sahco, Mrs. Adenike Aboderin explained that the ground handling company is passionate about education and giving back to the society, adding that “At Sacho plc, our pillars of Corporate Social Responsibility are education, healthcare, aviation value chain and economic empowerment.
She said “Science education, in particular, plays a critical role in shaping the future. It equips young minds with the ability to question, to explore, and to solve real-world problems. However, we also understand that effective science education requires more than textbooks and theory—it requires access to modern tools, practical experiences, and an environment that inspires curiosity and discovery.”
The school Principal, Mrs. Obidake Kehinde and Head Boy Olawale Olamide commended Sahco for the gesture and affirmed that the equipment will aid the students in the forthcoming West African School Certificate Examinations.
The SAHCO MD later formally handed the equipment over to the principal.
