Victor Osimhen is facing legal action from Mercedes-Benz over an alleged unpaid vehicle leasing agreement dating back to his time in Italy.
The Nigeria international, who recently returned to scoring form for Galatasaray, has been named in a criminal complaint filed in Milan by Mercedes-Benz Financial Services Italia S.p.A.
Dispute linked to €90,000 lease
According to reports from Italian outlet Il Giorno, the case centres on a Mercedes GLE hybrid SUV acquired under a leasing contract in 2023 while Osimhen was playing for Napoli.
The German firm alleges that the striker failed to meet his payment obligations, with arrears accumulating to approximately €90,000. The complaint also claims that the vehicle was not returned at the end of the lease period.
The matter has reportedly been classified under alleged misappropriation, escalating what may have begun as a contractual dispute into a legal case. As of now, neither Osimhen nor his representatives have issued a public response.
Case raises financial questions
The development has drawn attention given Osimhen’s earnings profile. The 27-year-old reportedly earned around €10 million annually during his time in Italy before securing a move to Galatasaray in 2024, where his salary increased significantly.
While high-value leasing disputes are not uncommon among elite athletes, the scale of the alleged arrears has raised questions around contract management and off-field oversight.
Osimhen, widely known for his taste in luxury vehicles, was frequently seen driving customised cars during his spell in Naples. He has also been spotted with high-end models during visits to Nigeria.
Despite the off-field issue, the striker remains a key figure for club and country, with his performances continuing to attract interest across Europe. The legal process in Milan is expected to determine the next phase of the dispute.
