Organisers of the Lagos State All Styles Karate Masters Workshop have announced plans to make the event an annual programme following a successful inaugural edition.
The 2026 workshop, held from April 18 -19, was organised by the Lagos State Karate Association in collaboration with the Karate Federation of Nigeria.
It attracted over 133 participants, including masters, instructors and practitioners across various karate styles.
Activities were held at the Sports Bar of Teslim Balogun Stadium and the Indoor Sports Hall of National Stadium Surulere.
The workshop focused on technical development, knowledge exchange and cross-style collaboration among participants.
The opening day featured lectures by Jack Mbom and Brasca Ifeadi, who addressed both technical and philosophical aspects of karate, including discipline, leadership and mental resilience.
Participants were also trained on athlete development, officiating standards and mentorship roles.
The second day involved practical sessions led by leading figures in Nigerian and African karate, including G.O. Goby China, Mavie Emechete-Attoh, Alfred Ohimain, Lucky Ebunu and Ayodeji Idowu.
They were supported by senior practitioners such as Wilson Okon, Paschal Mac-Brown, Kingsley Onuelu and Biyi Ismail.
Organisers said the workshop stood out for its inclusivity, with participation from both experienced masters and young karatekas, who gained direct mentorship.
They added that future editions would aim to expand participation and attract broader international collaboration.
