The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kano State has dismissed claims that it has withdrawn support for President Bola Tinubu’s second-term ambition, describing the report as entirely unfounded.
In a statement issued on Saturday, the party’s State Publicity Secretary, Auwalu Abdullahi, said the alleged declaration by a group identifying itself as the Arewa APC Forum, Kano State Chapter, was neither authentic nor recognised by the party.
According to him, the APC in Kano remains firmly aligned with the President and his administration, insisting that no legitimate organ of the party had taken any decision to withdraw its backing.
“The APC in Kano is aware of attempts by certain individuals and faceless groups to create confusion and disunity within the party,” the statement said.
“We wish to state categorically that this so-called forum is not known to the party structure and does not represent the views of APC members in Kano State.”
The party stressed that the claim was a deliberate effort to mislead the public and undermine its cohesion, urging members and supporters to ignore it.
Reaffirming its position, the Kano chapter expressed continued confidence in Tinubu’s leadership, noting that his government is committed to pursuing economic reforms, strengthening governance, and advancing national development.
Under the leadership of Umar Doguwa, the state chapter maintained that it remains united and focused, warning against attempts to sow discord within its ranks.
It further described the purported withdrawal notice as the handiwork of individuals seeking to create unnecessary tension, adding that the alleged signatory lacks credibility within the party.
“The so-called signatory of the purported withdrawal is faceless and not a stakeholder of the party at any level in Kano,” the statement added.
The party concluded by reiterating its unwavering support for Tinubu’s vision for Nigeria.
