Fleeing murder suspect found dead inside bush

A man suspected of shooting a woman dead in Amakama, Umuahia South Local Government Area of Abia State, has been found dead in a bush, three days after the youths of the community and the Abia State Police Command began efforts to arrest him.

The lifeless body of local security man, Mr. Chinedu Anamelechi, who had fled from home after allegedly committing the crime last wednesday, April 15, was found dead inside a bush on Saturday, April 18, according to indigenes of the Amakama community.

Security agencies have not spoken about the suspect’s cause of death, but Amakama indigenes claim that he committed suicide to evade arrest and prosecution by youths or the the police.

Anamelechi, who was a known vigilante personnel in his community, is alleged to have fatally shot a woman identified as Ezinne Ariwodo. He is also said to have shot a youth who came to intervene and stabbed another woman before fleeing to an unknown place.
