The Israeli military says it has killed six Hezbollah fighters in southern Lebanon, in what it described as an exchange of fire near the border.

According to the Israeli army, troops identified six members of the group in the village of Bint Jbeil, an area that saw heavy fighting before the ceasefire came into force on April 17. The claim could not be independently verified.

“After identification, an intense exchange of fire began between the terrorists and the soldiers, during which the soldiers eliminated two terrorists,” the army said.

“Subsequently, the soldiers struck the structure from which the terrorists were operating. The four remaining terrorists were eliminated,” it added.
