Police, NSCDC Deepen Security Collaboration as IGP Visits Corps Headquarters
The Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, has paid a landmark courtesy visit to the National Headquarters of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Abuja, in a move aimed at strengthening inter-agency cooperation in the country’s security framework.
The visit, described as the first of its kind, is part of efforts to reinforce collaboration between the Nigeria Police Force and the NSCDC, both of which play central roles in maintaining internal security.
Addressing the Commandant General of the Corps, Ahmed Abubakar Audi, and senior officers, the IGP stressed the importance of unity in tackling emerging security challenges. He noted that both agencies share overlapping mandates and must align strategies to enhance operational effectiveness.
He called for improved intelligence sharing and joint operations, emphasizing that coordinated efforts are critical to achieving sustainable peace across the country.
“We must encourage one another as we confront contemporary security challenges. We often fight difficult battles in demanding terrains; therefore, we must share intelligence and operate as a unified front,” Disu said.
In his response, Audi reaffirmed the NSCDC’s commitment to deepening synergy with the police. He noted that the Corps has maintained a long-standing working relationship with the police and is prepared to strengthen that partnership in response to evolving security demands.
The NSCDC boss highlighted collaboration, cooperation and coordination as essential pillars for the success of conventional security agencies. He also urged citizens to take a more proactive role in security by providing timely information to authorities, citing international models where public participation enhances intelligence gathering.
The visit concluded with an exchange of souvenirs and a group photograph session involving top NSCDC officials and members of the IGP’s delegation, including the Federal Capital Territory Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Mohammed Sanusi, and the Force Public Relations Officer, Anthony Placid.
