The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has released its provisional timetable for the 2026 primary elections ahead of the 2027 general polls, outlining key dates, processes, and costs for aspirants seeking party tickets.
In a statement by its National Publicity Secretary, Ejimofor Opara, the party said the schedule was approved by its National Working Committee (NWC) in line with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) timetable and relevant provisions of the Electoral Act 2026.
According to the timetable, the sale and submission of expression of interest forms will run from April 20 to May 8, while screening of aspirants is scheduled for May 11 (National Assembly), May 12 (State Houses of Assembly), and May 13 (governorship).
The party disclosed that nomination forms will be available between May 14 and May 21, after which primary elections will be conducted on May 23 across wards using the Option A4 voting system. Appeals arising from the primaries will be handled on May 28.
APGA also detailed the cost of forms for aspirants. Expression of interest forms are priced at ₦25 million for the presidency, ₦6 million for Senate, ₦4 million for the House of Representatives, ₦10 million for governorship, and ₦2 million for State Assembly seats.
Nomination forms, on the other hand, are pegged at ₦50 million for the presidency, ₦15 million for Senate, ₦12 million for House of Representatives, ₦25 million for governorship, and ₦6 million for State Assembly positions—bringing the total cost of the presidential form to ₦75 million.
The party reiterated that aspirants must first purchase and submit expression of interest forms and undergo screening before being cleared to obtain nomination forms.
The release of the timetable marks a significant step in APGA’s preparations for the 2027 elections, with the adoption of Option A4 expected to enhance transparency and reduce electoral malpractice within the party’s internal processes.
