Zamfara govt confirms fresh outbreak of polio

The Zamfara state government has confirmed the latest outbreak of   polio pandemic in the state.

The confirmation was made on Friday by the state’s secretary of Primary Health Care Board, Dr. Hussaini Yakubu Anka, at a press conference.

According to him, the state government, through the board, had identified six case in Gummi, two in Tsafe, one in Maru and one in Bakura local government areas of the state, adding that over 1.6m children were targeted to be vaccinated during the campaign drive across all the 14 local government areas of the state.

He said each child would receive injectable vaccines, drugs and indomie during the exercise, while also noting that this year’s campaign would cover all areas to ensure that all children receive the vaccines.

He assured that the board, in collaboration with development partners, would ensure proper monitoring of the exercise for its success.
