Viral Video Shows Man Accused of Attempting to Lure 13-Year-Old Hawker in Disturbing Encounter

Concern has been raised by a video that has been making the rounds on X. It purports to show an elderly guy trying to entice a 13-year-old girl who sells cocoyam in the neighborhood by pretending to buy from her.

The youngster was seen hawking cocoyams in the footage that was uploaded on Friday after the man allegedly called her over.

But the exchange quickly seemed suspect, so an eyewitness who was watching from a neighboring window decided to document the event and step in.

“Adijat” is the girl’s response when the man asks her name in the video.

He then inquired as to whether she would be interested in dating him. He said, “Will you date me?” 

The man was questioned about his behavior by the witness who had filmed the incident, who asked why he would say something like that to a youngster.

In response, the man said he was kidding and just wanted to purchase cocoyam from her. The man responded, “No, no, no, I was just playing and joking with her.”

When questioned later in the video, the girl affirms the conversation, claiming the male said the thing to her.

“He asked if we could go on a date. He is too old, I told him. Then he mentioned that he is still nursing his wife. Then he expressed a desire to go and bring money, she recounted.

When questioned about the veracity of what she said, the man denied it, saying, “I asked her, how far? How are you doing? What of your mother?“

The incident escalated, drawing the attention of other passersby who condemned his actions.

A man was also allegedly caught trying to entice a young girl selling avocados with ₦1,000 for sex, according to a March PUNCH Online article.
