US Energy Secretary Chris Wright claims that Washington is closing in on a potential agreement with Iran, despite ongoing tensions.
Speaking on Fox News, Wright said negotiations were advancing behind the scenes. “There are negotiations with the Iranians going on, despite what you hear in the chatter in public, I think those are actually going well.”
He praised US President Donald Trump’s approach, describing him as “a creative negotiator” who applies pressure and uncertainty to drive outcomes.
“I think we’ll have a nice end of this conflict,” Wright added, expressing confidence in a resolution.
He also said maritime activity would resume once the Strait of Hormuz reopens, though he cautioned that restarting shipping “will take time but probably not too much time.”
The comments come as the waterway remains a central flashpoint in negotiations.
