Troops Arrest ISWAP Suppliers in Yobe, Foil IED Attacks in Borno
Troops of Operation Hadin Kai have intensified counter-terrorism operations in the North-East, arresting suspected logistics suppliers to insurgents in Yobe State while neutralising improvised explosive devices (IEDs) and repelling terrorist attacks in Borno State.
Security sources confirmed that three suspected logistics suppliers linked to ISWAP and Jama’atu Ahlis Sunna Lidda’awati wal-Jihad (JAS) were apprehended at about 3:00 p.m. on April 15, 2026, in Damaturu Local Government Area of Yobe State. The operation was carried out by troops of the 233 Battalion in collaboration with a local hunters’ group.
The suspects were intercepted while transporting supplies in a pickup vehicle. Items recovered from them include 14 cartons of beverages, three mobile phones, watermelons, and ₦69,450 in cash. The materials are believed to be intended for terrorist elements operating within the region.
The suspects are currently in custody as investigations continue, with security operatives working to dismantle supply chains sustaining insurgent activities across the North-East.
In a related development, troops recorded further operational successes in Borno State through coordinated counter-IED and combat operations.
At approximately 10:06 a.m. on the same day, troops of the Headquarters 24 Task Force Brigade, while on picketing duties along the Dikwa–Maiduguri main supply route, detected an IED at Bale Junction in Dikwa Local Government Area. The device was safely detonated in a controlled operation without causing damage.
Similarly, an Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team of the 82 Division Task Force Battalion discovered another IED along the Ngoshe–Pulka road in Gwoza Local Government Area. The explosive was successfully neutralised on site.
Shortly after, troops on patrol in the area encountered an unconfirmed number of suspected terrorists descending from the Mandara Mountains. The insurgents were engaged, forcing them to abandon their advance and retreat into surrounding terrain.
Security sources indicated that sustained operations are underway to maintain pressure on fleeing insurgents, degrade their operational capabilities, and ensure the continued safety of civilians in the affected areas.
