Troops Arrest IPOB/ESN Network Member, Recover Arms in Ebonyi
Troops of Operation UDO KA have arrested a suspected member of the IPOB/ESN criminal network and recovered an AK-47 rifle in Ebonyi State.
The arrest followed a follow-up operation by troops of Sector 2 in Izzi Local Government Area, acting on intelligence obtained from an earlier raid that led to the capture of a notorious insurgent commander, Chinedu Igautu, also known as “Calamity,” and his associates.
The Army said the suspect, identified as Chisom Agashi Ogadego, alias “Baron,” was apprehended during the operation and is believed to have been involved in kidnapping and other criminal activities in the state.
Preliminary investigations, according to the military, led to the recovery of an AK-47 rifle, magazines, and ammunition from a hideout within the area.
In a related development, troops of the 82 Division Garrison also foiled a kidnap attempt in Ezeagu Local Government Area of Enugu State, rescuing four abducted persons along the Akama–Iwollo Road.
The victims, Chisom Kingsley, Chuoke Chinedu, Jonathan Paul Chukwu, and Patience John were rescued unhurt, while a motorcycle and vehicle used by the suspects were recovered.
The rescued victims and recovered items have been handed over to the police for further investigation.
The Army said the operations underscore the effectiveness of ongoing intelligence-led efforts to dismantle criminal networks and restore security across the South-East.
It reaffirmed its commitment to protecting lives and property, urging members of the public to continue providing credible information to support ongoing operations.
