Nigerian Afrobeats stars Rema, Wizkid, and Burna Boy have secured nominations in the Afrobeats category at the 52nd edition of the American Music Awards (AMAs).
The organisers of the awards announced the full list of nominees on Tuesday. ahead of the ceremony, which is scheduled to take place on Monday, May 25, 2026, at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.
The event will be hosted by Queen Latifah.
In the Best Afrobeats Artist category, Rema, Wizkid and Burna Boy will compete against South African singer Tyla and Ghanaian-American artiste MOLIY.
The nominations highlight the continued global appeal of Afrobeats, with Nigerian artistes once again forming a strong presence in the category.
With winners determined solely by public votes, the trio will be relying on their extensive international fan bases to secure victory.
Taylor Swift Leads Nominations
Globally, Taylor Swift leads the nominations with eight nods. She is followed by Morgan Wallen, Olivia Dean, Sabrina Carpenter, and sombr, who each received seven nominations.
Meanwhile, Alex Warren and Lady Gaga earned six nominations apiece.
Voting System and Ceremony Details
The AMAs, produced by Dick Clark Productions since 1974, remains one of the few major global music awards where winners are decided entirely by fans.
Voting is conducted through the official AMAs website and social media platforms.
