

The Delta state Police command has arrested five notorious kidnappers including inter -state gun running syndicate and recovered two AK 47 in another operation.
The arrest of the five suspected kidnappers and recovery of firearms and ammunition were done through intelligence-driven operations.
A statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe reads: “On April 24, 2026, at about 6:30 p.m., operatives of the command’s tactical team based in Ughelli.
“Acting on credible intelligence, arrested a 22-year-old suspect, Ahmadu Usman, a native of Lafiya in Nasarawa state, at the Ekuigbo area of Ughelli. He was linked to a kidnapping syndicate terrorising commuters along the Ughelli–Warri Road.”
Further interrogation, he said, led to the arrest of another suspect, Haruna Abdullahi, 37, at the Trailer Park along the Warri–Sapele Road and one AK-47 rifle loaded with 36 rounds of 7.62mm live ammunition was recovered from the suspects.
In a separate operation on April 23, 2026, operatives of the same tactical team arrested a suspect in Ughelli over his involvement in an inter-state gun-running and kidnapping network.
SP Edafe said he was apprehended alongside Haruna Jibrin, 30, a native of Wase in Plateau state, who was allegedly assigned to transport arms from Ughelli to Port Harcourt, Rivers state.
