Results of the renewed onslaught against criminal elements across Oyo State are yielding results as the Oyo State Police Command foiled a confraternity meeting at The Polytechnic Ibadan, arresting 16 suspected cultists in the process.
The command noted that the suspects were arrested within the premises of The Polytechnic, Ibadan, during a night raid after credible intelligence.
This revelation was contained in a release signed by the command’s public relations officer, Olayinka Alayande.
Alayande noted that the suspects included 14 males and two females. He added that some dangerous items were recovered from the suspects as exhibits.
According to him, they are suspected to be members of the Aiye confraternity and were planning a critical meeting on the premises of the institution.

He added that the investigation is still ongoing on the matter.
“During the course of the operation, a total of sixteen (16) suspects comprising fourteen (14) males and two (2) females were arrested at and around the venue,” he said.
“Preliminary investigation reveals that some of the suspects had been on the command’s watchlist for their alleged involvement in a series of murder cases and cult-related activities within the state.”
The police enjoined members of the public to go about their lawful businesses without fear.
Alayande urged them to continue to collaborate with the police by giving credible intelligence on any suspicious movement or actions anywhere across Oyo State.
