Peacock Cancels Beloved Series After a Single Season
Peacock has become a major player in original series. This is thanks to shows like “The Paper,” “The Traitors US,” and “The Burbs.” However, the streamer has now canceled “The Copenhagen Test” after a single season.
News of “The Copenhagen Test” being canceled comes exclusively from Variety. Peacock premiered the series starring Simu Liu in December 2025, with all eight episodes debuting at once on the platform.
Regarding the premise of the show, its tagline reads, “first-generation Chinese-American intelligence analyst Alexander Hale (Liu) who realizes his brain has been hacked, giving the perpetrators access to everything he sees and hears. Caught between his shadowy agency and the unknown hackers, he must maintain a performance 24/7 to flush out who’s responsible and prove where his allegiance lies.”
Peacock Canceled ‘The Copenhagen Test’ Due to Viewership
There was high hope for “The Copenhagen Test” based on the series’ trailers. However, per Variety, Peacock decided not to renew it for a second season due to low viewership.
For the week of December 29 to January 4, the show garnered 373 million minutes viewed. The good news is this gave the show a place on Nielsen’s top 10 original shows chart. However, the series failed to chart in subsequent weeks, signaling an overall lack of interest from Peacock subscribers.
“The Copenhagen Test” also stars Melissa Barrera, Sinclair Daniel, Brian D’Arcy James, Mark O’Brien, and Kathleen Chalfant. It was created by Thomas Brandon. In addition to leading the series, Liu also served as an executive producer.
It’s worth noting that the series was well-received by critics and audiences. On Rotten Tomatoes, audiences gave it a 71% rating, making it “certified fresh.” Regarding audiences, the show currently has an 80%.
Peacock Recently Renewed ‘The Burbs’
As mentioned, Peacock premiered another show, “The Burbs,” months after “The Copenhagen Test” in February 2026. However, according to Variety, the difference is that the streamer has renewed the comedy-horror series.
According to the report, the show became a fairly big hit with viewers, generating 1.7 billion viewing minutes. This equates to 28.3 million hours for “The Burbs,” which stars Keke Palmer. The cast also includes Jack Whitehall, Julia Duffy, Paula Pell, Mark Proksch, and Kapil Talwalkar.
Per the tagline, the show “follows a young couple (Palmer, Whitehall) who have reluctantly relocated to the husband’s childhood home. Their world is upended when a new neighbor moves in across the street, bringing old secrets of the cul-de-sac to light and new deadly threats shatter the illusion of their quiet little neighborhood.”
