Netanyahu says Israel to continue operations in Lebanon 'security zone'

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Israeli forces would continue operations in the “security zone” in southern Lebanon.

He said the operations aim to “thwart any threats” against Israeli forces and towns.

Israeli Army Radio reported the military had established a “yellow line” encompassing 55 villages whose residents are not allowed to return.

In Beirut, Hezbollah leader Naim Qassem said: “There can be no ceasefire by the resistance alone, but it must be from both sides”.

Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam said he discussed with President Joseph Aoun the country’s readiness for negotiations and the implementation of decisions on confining weapons to state control.
