Nasarawa 2027:  Candidates must emerge through free, fair processes, ethnic groups tell parties

The Forum of National Youth Presidents, Ethnic Nationalities in Nasarawa state, Thursday demanded that the next governor must emerge through free, fair and credible processes and not through imposition, pressure or personal preference.

President of the forum, Comrade Silas Dauda, made the position of the groups known at a press conference held in Lafia, the Nasarawa state capital.

He remarked that Governor Abdullahi Sule has the constitutional right to anoint his preferred candidate but it must be through a transparent democratic process.

Silas added that,” It is disturbing that the governor made this significant declaration without broad consultation and carrying the ethnic nationalities along.”

The forum warned that if Governor Sule did not reverse his decision to allow a transparent process, they will have no option than to vote his candidate out in 2027.
