‘Mission: Impossible’ Star Rushed to the Hospital Following Medical Scare
Beloved actor Ving Rhames, 66, known for films such as “Mission: Impossible,” is reported to have suffered a medical scare. Not much is known about his condition, but he’s reported to have been rushed to the hospital after overheating.
According to TMZ, Rhames was dining with his family at a Los Angeles restaurant on April 29. While eating, he began to lose consciousness, essentially going in and out, and then collapsed. Paramedics were then called, and they rushed him to a nearby hospital.
The LA City Fire Department told the outlet that they received a call for a male in his 60s. This occurred at about 1:40 PM, and the person was then taken to a local medical facility. Now, a rep has spoken with TMZ, saying the actor “overheated” while out to eat.
The representative also stated that he is expected to be fine but that he’s remaining at the hospital for observation.
Ving Rhames Remains Active In Hollywood
Despite his recent health scare, Rhames remains quite busy in Hollywood, adding to his extensive resume. One of his most recent films, “Uppercut,” was released in 2025. The beloved actor spoke to The Hollywood Reporter about it in February of that year.
Regarding working on a smaller-scale movie, he said, “When you don’t have as much money; you can’t do as many things, but you can do more creative things, you can find ways of making things work. This movie brought me back to why I got into making films.”
He then compared it to working on “Mission: Impossible,’ recalling, “That’s what I had with this experience. With ‘Mission: Impossible,’ we just did one for over $200 million. So you have the money to do whatever you want. Tom Cruise got $75 million — you can make two or three films for that much.”
When asked why he agreed to do “Uppercut,” Rhames stated, “I read the script, and just got really attached to this story. And then meeting Luise, we had a very good natural chemistry, so it made it very easy. Throwing Torsten in with her made it an easy choice for me.”
The interviewer then noted that “Uppercut” didn’t feel like a “typical boxing movie.” Rhames responded, “For me, that was the thing — learning that this is not a boxing movie. It is set against the background of boxing. But is it about boxing? I don’t think so. It’s about two strangers from two different worlds getting to know each other in a boxing arena.”
The ‘Mission: Impossible’ Star Has Multiple Movies Lined Up
Rhames has appeared in several iconic movies throughout his legendary career. This includes “Pulp Fiction” and “Bringing Out the Dead.” Despite this, he’s still in demand. According to IMDb, he has two films in post-production. The first of the two is “Mongoose,” which Deadline reports he filmed in early 2025 alongside Liam Neeson and Marisa Tomei.
He was also cast in the upcoming Hulu film “Painter” in 2025. He will appear in the film alongside Amber Midthunder, Walton Goggins, Florian Munteanu, and Daniel Bernhardt.
