President Donald Trump claims Iran has asked the United States for a ceasefire and said he will only consider the request after Iran has reopened the Strait of Hormuz.
Until then, he added, “we are blasting Iran into oblivion” and “back to the Stone Ages!!!”
“Iran’s New Regime President, much less Radicalised and far more intelligent than his predecessors, has just asked the United States of America for a CEASEFIRE! We will consider when Hormuz Strait is open, free, and clear,” Trump said in a post on Truth Social.

Trump said “Iran’s New Regime President,” however, Iran still has the same president.
There has been no confirmation of a ceasefire request from Iran, and it is not clear if the Iranian president has the power to speak on behalf of the regime.
Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi in an interview with Al Jazeera aired late Tuesday signaled Tehran’s willingness to keep fighting.
“You cannot speak to the people of Iran in the language of threats and deadlines,” he said. “We do not set any deadline for defending ourselves.”
Trump has previously said the opening of the Strait of Hormuz is not a problem for the United States and has previously suggested it would open as soon as the war ends.
Trump is delivering televised remarks to Americans on the Iran war on Thursday.
