Iran’s Quds Force commander has reinforced calls for national unity, pushing back against claims of internal divisions made by US President Donald Trump.
Esmail Qaani said Iran’s strength lies in cohesion between the public and leadership.
In a post on social media, he described the “backbone” of Iran’s fighters as the “unity of the streets and the cohesion of officials”.
“With the ironclad unity of the nation and government, and by fully obeying the supreme leader, we will make the criminal aggressor regret it,” the statement reads.
His remarks follow similar messages from Iran’s president, foreign minister and parliamentary speaker, all stressing unity in response to Washington’s claims of infighting.
