Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said there is a growing contradiction between the United States pursuing diplomacy while maintaining pressure measures, including a blockade, in remarks during a call with Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
“The contradiction has increased the level of mistrust [in Washington] among the Iranian people and officials of the Islamic Republic,” the president was quoted by Press TV as having said.
Pezeshkian said negotiations in Islamabad stalled amid US demands, adding that Iran will not return to talks unless the blockade is lifted.
He also reiterated that Iran would not reopen the Strait of Hormuz while restrictions remain in place.
