Frank Lampard has officially guided Coventry City back to the Premier League, completing a managerial revival that coincides with the club’s first top-flight return in 25 years.
A 1-1 draw with Blackburn Rovers secured promotion with three games to spare, marking a significant turnaround for both Lampard and the Championship side.

Lampard arrived in November 2024 with his reputation under pressure following difficult spells at Everton and Chelsea.
Coventry were 17th in the table at the time, struggling to build on the progress made under former manager Mark Robins.

Forward Jack Rudoni is among those to benefit, delivering consistent performances in attack.
“People just see him as a gaffer because they don’t know him as a person but he’s more than just a gaffer,” Rudoni said.
“You can come to him with anything and he will sit there and talk to you and give you advice whether it’s football or not.”
He added: “He’s been brilliant, and it’s great to have someone of that quality that can guide me and give me tips.”

Coventry’s rise has also been supported by targeted recruitment like the signing of Nigeria’s Frank Onyeka. He has also brought stability within the squad, with minimal changes made during the summer window.
Lampard’s approach has been viewed internally as a calculated reset, allowing him to rebuild credibility away from Premier League pressure.
