Zamfara state Governor Dauda Lawal has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to increased interventions for the Federal University Gusau (FUGUS) .
The Governor gave the assurance while receiving members of the University’s Governing Council during a courtesy visit at the Zamfara State Government Lodge in Abuja.
Governor Lawal stressed the critical role FUGUS can play in advancing his administration’s agenda to change the narrative and drive sustainable development in the state.
He pledged to carefully consider all requests presented by the University and provide necessary support.
Addressing the Council’s request for a pedestrian bridge, the Governor revealed that the contract had already been awarded.
“I wonder why the contractor is yet to commence work,” he said, directing the Commissioner for Project Monitoring, Alhaji Kabiru Moyi Birnin-Magaji, to follow up and ensure action is taken.
The Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council, Rt. Hon. (Engr.) Aminu Sani Isa, commended the Governor for past support to the institution.
The Vice-Chancellor Professor Tukur Adamu appealed for additional state interventions, specifically in infrastructure development, provision of official vehicles, and support for the accreditation of the University’s College of Health Sciences.
