Google will provide 100,000 free scholarships to Ghanaian students pursuing higher education, the firm announced in Accra on July 24, 2025.
If you are presently enrolled in a Ghanaian university, polyteùchnic, or college, you are eligible to apply for a completely supported Google Scholarships Digital Skills Ghana Certificate in AI, cybersecurity, data analytics, or IT support.
These certificates often cost money and take 3-6 months to complete at your own speed online. Google has committed $37 million (~GHS 411 million at April 2026 rates) to train individuals for AI-era professions across Africa, including Ghana.
What Google Scholarships Ghana Students Can Study?
The Google Career Certificates provide a flexible method to acquire highly sought-after talents while requiring no prior experience. You can select the following specialist tracks:
- AI Essentials & Professional: This 10-hour course will teach you how to use generative AI efficiently in your daily job. You’ll learn how to synthesise knowledge and collaborate with AI to speed up daily tasks.
- Data Analytics: Discover how to analyse and analyse data to acquire valuable business insights. You will learn to use tools such as SQL, Tableau, and R programming to transform raw data into meaningful storytelling.
- Cybersecurity: This course covers the fundamentals of risk mitigation, Python, and Linux, preparing you for entry-level positions as a security analyst.
- Digital Marketing & E-commerce: Learn how to use the tools required to connect with customers online. To support local businesses’ expansion, you will obtain practical expertise with Google Ads, SEO, and social media analytics.
- IT Support: To assist organisations in maintaining the seamless operation of their technology, learn the foundations of networking, operating systems, and troubleshooting.
- Project management: Acquire the skill of managing groups and producing outcomes. The Agile, Scrum, and Waterfall approaches are covered in this course to guarantee projects are finished on schedule and under budget.
- UX design: To create better, more user-friendly digital products, learn the fundamentals of user experience design, from wireframing and prototyping to user research.
Who Qualifies and How to Apply
The application process is carried out through the official One Million Coders (OMC) website. Check sure the portal is operational before you begin. As of this update, the registration process is as follows:
- Go to the OMC Registration Portal (try this URL before applying).

What Else Google Is Funding in Ghana
Google established a new AI Community Centre in Accra in addition to the scholarships. Students, developers, and entrepreneurs can learn about AI and try out technologies at the center’s free courses, hackathons, and events.
Sam Nartey George, Ghana’s Minister of Communications, Digital Technology, and Innovations, was present during the opening.
Additionally, Google announced $7 million in financing for cybersecurity and online safety-focused AI training programmes in Ghana, Kenya, Nigeria, and South Africa.
