The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has called for stronger collaboration among stakeholders ahead of the June 20 governorship election in Ekiti State.
The Resident Electoral Commissioner, Bunmi Omoseyindemi, said the move is aimed at mitigating risks that could affect the conduct of a free, fair and credible poll.
He spoke in Ado Ekiti on Thursday during an Election Risk Management (ERM) sensitisation workshop.
Omoseyindemi said INEC remained committed to delivering a credible and peaceful election but stressed that success depends on stakeholders.
He said: “INEC remains fully committed to conducting an election that reflects the will of the people of Ekiti State.”
He urged political actors to adhere strictly to the Electoral Act and INEC guidelines.
He added that campaigns must be issue-based, peaceful and free from violence or incitement.
The REC explained that the workshop was designed to strengthen understanding of the ERM framework and develop strategies to manage risks.
Participants included civil society organisations, security agencies, the media and INEC officials.
Omoseyindemi said the framework helps identify and address threats such as logistical challenges, security concerns, misinformation and electoral malpractice.

He said: “These risks are not insurmountable, but they require proactive collaboration and shared responsibility among all stakeholders.”
He added: “Our objective of conducting an election that reflects the will of the people of the state can only be achieved through cooperation, vigilance, and strict adherence to the Electoral Act and INEC guidelines.”
He listed key concerns specific to Ekiti, including vote-buying, voter inducement, misinformation and disinformation.
Other risks, he said, include political violence, thuggery, logistical delays, inter-party rivalry and low voter turnout driven by distrust or fear.
INEC said addressing these challenges would be critical to ensuring a credible and acceptable election outcome.
