Drone strikes in Iraq’s northern Kurdistan region wounded three Iranian Kurdish rebels, an exiled opposition group said, blaming the attack on Tehran.
During the war, Iran has repeatedly struck Iranian Kurdish groups in Iraq’s autonomous Kurdistan region, which hosts camps and bases belonging to several exiled rebel groups.
“Tehran launched an attack with four drones on bases” belonging to the Kurdistan Freedom Party (PAK), wounding three fighters, the exiled group said in a statement.
Its spokesperson Kalel Kani Sanani told AFP that the fighters sustained minor injuries, adding that the attack occurred in the Khabat district of Erbil province.
Iranian Kurdish rebels have been struck a number of times since a ceasefire took effect on 8 April.
The PAK said that it falls on US President Donald Trump “to protect the Kurdistan region” during the truce.
Iran designates several Iranian Kurdish armed groups as terrorist organisations and accuses them of serving Western or Israeli interests.
Before the war erupted, five exiled groups, including the PAK, announced a political coalition to seek the overthrow of Iran’s Islamic republic and secure Kurdish self-determination.
