Former Minister of Foreign Affairs Ambassador Yusuf Maitama Tuggar has purchased the All Progressives Congress’ N50 million governorship nomination form to contest the 2027 election in Bauchi State.

A video shared on Wednesday by Imran Mohammed, Senior Special Assistant on New Media to the APC National Chairman, Nentawe Yilwatda, showed Tuggar signing documents and being presented with the nomination form by party officials.

Tuggar had earlier declared his intention to run for governor, stating that his ambition would strengthen internal competition within the party rather than create divisions.

“This is not just my ambition; it is a collective mission to move Bauchi State forward,” he said during a visit to the APC secretariat in Bauchi last week.

The former minister, who resigned his position in March 2026 in line with President Bola Tinubu’s directive for political appointees seeking elective offices, said party loyalty and cohesion remain central to his bid.

He also pledged to support whoever emerges as the party’s candidate, noting that he would not resort to litigation against fellow party members.

Tuggar said his governorship ambition is driven by the need to address Bauchi State’s development challenges, including poverty, unemployment, insecurity, and gaps in education and healthcare.

He outlined plans to prioritize agriculture, small and medium-scale enterprises, and solid mineral development, while also promising improved security, timely payment of salaries, and expanded access to quality education and healthcare.
