The African Democratic Congress has ratified major internal reforms and approved constitutional amendments at the end of its National Convention held in Abuja.
The convention, which took place on Tuesday at the Rainbow Event Centre in Garki, was presided over by the party’s National Chairman, David Mark, who commended members for their commitment to strengthening the party.
Delegates considered and adopted several motions relating to the party’s activities and structural reforms.
Central among them was the ratification of resolutions from previous National Executive Committee (NEC) meetings.
These included the 97th NEC decision of March 27, 2025, which approved a waiver of the two-year membership requirement, and the 98th NEC resolution of May 30, 2025, which suspended zoning requirements for filling vacant leadership positions.
The convention also ratified the 99th NEC decision of July 29, 2025, concerning the constitution and dissolution of the National Working Committee.
In addition, delegates approved resolutions from the 100th NEC meeting held on March 25, 2025, covering congress dates, conduct of congresses, and the party’s manifesto and policy direction, alongside the outcomes of the congresses already conducted.
The convention also adopted disciplinary measures against several members found to have violated party rules.
A key highlight of the gathering was the ratification of constitutional amendments earlier adopted by the NEC.
The amendments were approved through a ballot process, securing more than the required two-thirds majority of delegates.
The National Auditors’ report was also presented and unanimously adopted.
Delegates concluded the convention by commending the party leadership for its efforts in repositioning the ADC and strengthening its internal structures.
