A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ogun State, Giwa Odulana, has declared his intention to contest the 2027 Ogun East Senatorial seat.
Odulana, popularly known as Ajirotutu, made the declaration on Wednesday at a stakeholders’ meeting held at the PDP Ward 3 Secretariat in Itantebo, Ijebu-Ode.
He said his decision was driven by the need to improve living conditions in Ogun East through effective lawmaking and targeted development.
Odulana said: “I have come here today to say that I will be running for the Ogun East Senatorial seat in 2027.
“There are definitely lapses in governance in the senatorial district, whether in education, health, job creation for our youth, and good roads, among other areas, begging for attention.
“Definitely, the All Progressives Congress has been quite disappointing, and this cannot continue in 2027.
“It is time to give the youth the opportunity to go out there and do things differently so that everyone will know that things are truly changing.
“If I get the needed support and you send me to the Senate in 2027, we shall not leave anyone behind.
“It is going to be inclusive governance that places the welfare of the people, empowerment of women and youth, and infrastructural development above parochial interests.”

He described himself as young and capable of driving a generational shift in leadership across the nine local government areas in the district.
Odulana said his background in engineering and estate development positions him to deliver infrastructure and prioritise education and youth empowerment if elected.
He added that his ambition is focused on repositioning Ogun East for sustained socio-economic growth.
Speaking at the event, PDP State Vice Chairman, Otunba Ayinde Awobadejo, welcomed Odulana and assured him of a fair and transparent process.
Awobadejo described the PDP as the only platform capable of addressing current economic challenges, urging members to mobilise ahead of the 2027 elections.
