Ahead of the August 15, 2026 governorship election in Osun state, the All Progressives Congress (APC) has inaugurated its campaign committees, with a mandate for an issue-based, people-focused, well-coordinated and results-driven campaign.
Speaking with journalists after the inauguration, Wednesday, Senator Francis Fadahunsi, representing Osun East, said the APC will ensure that governor Ademola Adeleke does not return to office.
He alleged that his constituency has been badly affected by illegal mining, leading to land degradation. Fadahunsi described the situation as wasteful, saying state resources are being lost while communities in Ijesa, particularly Obokun, Oriade, Atakunmosa West, and Atakunmosa East, face environmental danger.
He also claimed that in the affected areas there is no equipped hospital for quality healthcare access.
Fadahunsi stated that the APC’s plan is to bring sanity to the mining sector and ensure more revenue for government programmes, while emphasizing accountability under APC leadership.
The Director-General of the APC Campaign Council, Hon. Oluwole Oke, maintained that the incumbent government has failed the people of Osun State across key sectors.
He criticized the administration for alleged mismanagement of resources and said the state lacks adequate facilities, including school buildings and teachers, equipped healthcare facilities, and a failing agricultural sector.
Oke said the APC is coming to address citizens’ welfare, reduce poverty, and focus on the people through its campaign committees—particularly the mobilisation committee.
He reiterated the party’s confidence, declaring that APC would remove the sitting governor before 10pm on August 15, 2026, and that the APC candidate, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, will emerge.
