Owing to the successes of the first National Immunization Plus Days in Adamawa state, the State Primary Health Care Development Agency (ADSPHCDA) in collaborations with UNICEFF, and other partners have concluded arrangements to flag off, the second phase of the programme.
Speaking at a media dialogue with journalists, social media influencers and stakeholders on Thursday in Yola, the director disease control and immunization ADSPHCDA, Dr. Jacobs Vusumu, said this round of immunization would further consolidates on the gains recorded during the first round and put Adamawa state on a good footing.
He noted the second round will commence from May 2nd to 5th across all the 21 local governments and 226 electoral wards in the state targeting 1,301,795 children from aged 0 to 59 months.
Vusumu further noted that the state has received 1,584,740 doses of the vaccines for the exercise, stressing that they have 154 teams who will carry out the exercise across the state including hard to reach areas.
He expressed satisfaction with the performance of the state in the last exercise and called for more efforts and collaborations.
On his part, the Executive Chairman ADSPHCDA, Dr. Bashir sulaiman, commended the media and other partners for their efforts and commitments which have continued to boost the campaign and change the narratives of the health sector in the state.
On her part, UNICEF Representative at the event, Jennifer Dabo, reiterated the commitments of UNICEFF to work with the Nigerian government and all stakeholders to tackles challenges bedeviling women and children in the society.
She noted that although Nigeria has recorded tremendous progress in polio eradication, there is the urgent need for thede gains to be sustain and consolidated.
