The Royal Spanish Football Federation has handed Real Zaragoza goalkeeper Esteban Andrada a 13-match ban after he punched an opposing player during a derby clash.
The disciplinary committee announced that Andrada was sanctioned after striking SD Huesca defender Jorge Pulido during a second-tier derby match last Sunday.
According to the ruling, the Argentine goalkeeper received a 12-match suspension for the punch, while his earlier red card attracted an automatic one-match ban, effectively ruling him out for the rest of the season.
The player and his club were also fined.
The incident occurred late in the match when Andrada pushed Pulido and was shown a second yellow card.
He then reacted angrily and struck the defender, sparking a mass confrontation on the pitch.
Following the clash, Andrada apologised for his actions, describing the incident as a poor reflection on himself and the club.
Two other players were also punished after the confrontation. Dani Jiménez, goalkeeper for Huesca, received a four-match suspension, while Zaragoza’s Dani Tasende was banned for two matches.
Huesca went on to secure a 1–0 victory, a result that dealt a setback to Zaragoza’s fight to avoid relegation.
