The Governor of Adamawa State, Ahmadu Fintiri, has visited the Guyaku community in Gombi Local Government Area after gunmen reportedly attacked the community and killed 29 people.
The assailants reportedly stormed the community on Sunday at about 4:00 p.m. while residents were gathered for a football tournament.
According to eyewitnesses, the attackers killed 28 males and one female, including children, while several others sustained injuries and are currently receiving treatment at medical facilities in Gombi.
Governor Fintiri visited the affected community for an on-the-spot assessment, condemning the attack in strong terms, assuring residents that the government would take decisive measures to protect lives and prevent a recurrence.
Earlier, the Paramount Ruler of Gombi, Agrey Ali Komo Gombi, suggested that the attack may have been aided by informants within or around the community.
Despite the tragedy, he emphasized that the people remain resilient and determined.
Security has since been reinforced in the area, with a heavy deployment of military personnel, police, and local vigilantes working to restore calm and prevent further attacks.
