Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi returned to Pakistan in less than 24 hours, amid ongoing diplomatic developments linked to tensions involving Iran, the United States and regional stakeholders.
Araghchi’s rapid travel between Islamabad and Muscat
Araghchi had travelled from Islamabad to Muscat, Oman, on Saturday. During his visit, he met with the Sultan of Oman and other senior officials on Sunday. Oman has often played a mediating role in regional diplomacy, particularly in matters involving Iran.
As per his scheduled itinerary, Araghchi is expected to depart for Moscow after concluding meetings with Pakistani officials in Islamabad.
Trump reiterates stance on Iran conflict
Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump once again claimed that any conflict involving Iran would end soon, asserting that the United States would emerge victorious. He also signalled openness to dialogue, stating that Iran could engage in talks if it wished.

Earlier on Saturday, Trump had cancelled a planned meeting in Pakistan involving a potential US delegation to discuss the Iran situation. The decision was taken after the Iranian delegation had already left Islamabad.
Trump remarked that sending envoys such as Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner would result in a ‘waste of time.’ He added that if Iran truly wanted negotiations, ‘they just need to make a call.’
Signals of reduced US engagement
According to a report by BBC Arabic, Pakistani government sources told Reuters on Sunday that the US military had removed certain security equipment from Islamabad. This move is being interpreted as a sign that a US delegation is unlikely to return for talks in the near future.

Meetings in Islamabad and possible peace framework
After returning to Islamabad on Sunday, Araghchi held talks with Pakistan’s Field Marshal Asim Munir. The discussions are seen as part of broader diplomatic coordination in the region.
According to an analysis by BBC Urdu, the Iranian foreign minister is expected to present a framework proposed by Tehran aimed at restarting peace talks with the United States.

However, when Trump earlier called off the Islamabad visit by US envoys, he clarified that the move should not be interpreted as an act of hostility.
