The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has dismissed as fake a purported UTME result slip circulating online, which claims a candidate, Okon Winnifred Sampson, scored 396 in the 2026 examination.
In a statement, JAMB’s spokesperson, Fabian Benjamin, described the result slip as fabricated and urged the public to disregard it, warning Nigerians against spreading false information not issued through official channels.
The document, which has been circulating widely on social media as the highest UTME score so far, has triggered reactions, but JAMB said the claim is entirely false.
According to the examination body, one of the clearest signs of fraud is that UTME results are currently view-only, making the format of the circulated result slip inconsistent with JAMB’s official result process.
Benjamin said the document was generated on a fake template and does not reflect the Board’s authentic result format.
“The purported result slip currently being circulated, claiming that a candidate with the name Okon Winnifred Sampson scored 396 in the 2026 UTME, is entirely fake,” he said.
He added that the registration number appearing on the document also exposes it as fraudulent, noting that JAMB registration numbers are system-generated and do not follow the pattern seen on the circulated slip.
“Firstly, the Board has clearly stated that UTME results are view-only. The circulated document appears on a fabricated result template, which on its own is sufficient indication that it is not authentic,” Benjamin said.
“Secondly, the Board’s registration numbers are system-generated and do not follow the pattern ‘20269’ as seen on the fake slip. There are several other inconsistencies that, even at a glance, expose the result as fraudulent.”
JAMB advised candidates, parents and the general public to rely only on official platforms for authentic examination information and ignore misleading claims circulating online.
The Board also cautioned against amplifying unverified content, especially as public interest grows around the release of the 2026 UTME results.
“The public is strongly advised to disregard this fake result and rely only on official channels for accurate information. All results at the moment are view only,” Benjamin added.
The clarification comes amid heightened attention around top UTME performances, with JAMB moving to curb misinformation and protect the integrity of its examination process.
