The Senator representing Sokoto East Senatorial District, Ibrahim Lamido has announced his resignation from the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Lamido, the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Primary Health Care Development and Disease Control announced on Saturday, April 25.
In a letter addressed to his ward chairman, Isa South, Isa Local Government Area and posted on X, the lawmaker said his resignation is with immediate effect.
Citing an ongoing internal crisis rocking the APC, Lamido said the decision to resign from the party was not taken lightly.
“I write to formally tender my resignation as a member of the All Progressive Congress (APC) Isa South, Isa Local Government, Sokoto State Chapter, with immediate effect.
“This decision has not been taken lightly. However, the ongoing internal party crisis, suspicion and unfair party leadership style within the party in Sokoto State have made it increasingly difficult for me to continue my membership in good conscience,” Lamido said.
He also noted that the persisting crisis and division have hindered progress and unity among party members.
Further appreciating the APC for providing the platform for his political career, Lamido said he wishes to party well in its effort to surmount its present challenge.
“The persistent divisions, lack of cohesion, and unresolved disputes have significantly hindered the progress and unity that the party once stood for.
“I remain grateful for the opportunity to have served and contributed to the party during my time as a member. I wish the party well in its efforts to overcome its present challenges and move forward in unity,” he said.
