At the Suleja Local Government Area secretariat, robbers are accused of breaking into the buses used by employees of Federal Government Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs).
According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), unidentified robbers took the brain boxes from seven of the buses on Sunday.
According to NAN, the incident was reported on Monday at the Suleja Divisional Police Headquarters.
The National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI), Federal Ministries of Agriculture, Budget, and National Planning, and the NAN are among the buses impacted.
The Ministry of Mines and Steel Development, the Office of the Head of Service, and the Sharia Court of Appeal (FCT) are additional.
According to NAN, the majority of federal government employee buses that transport employees from Suleja to Abuja park their cars at the secretariat for security.
The Budget and National Planning bus driver, Mr. Jimah Umar, informed NAN that he was the first to notice the crime.
We found that someone had broken into our motor when we went outside this morning (Sunday) to transport it for repairs.
“I even believed that they had taken our battery, but it was sufficiently protected. The brain box was taken out.
“We were the first group to report that our brain box had been taken away,” he stated.
Concerns about the situation were also voiced by Mr. Amos Amodu, the Secretary of the Suleja Staff Buses Association and a driver for the Nigeria Integrated Water Resources Management Commission.
“Mr. Abdul called to let me know that his car’s brain box had been taken out. When we got there, we saw that many agencies’ buses were involved in addition to him,” he stated.
Other drivers on the scene expressed their opinions about the ongoing security issues.
Theft issues only started in September 2025, according to Mr. Joel Arenkhanda, a driver for the Federal Ministry of Water Resources, who claimed to have parked his bus at the secretariat since 2015.
“We began experiencing problems in September of last year; drivers have come to report that their fuel has been withdrawn from their cars.
They have even stolen fuel from my car twice. I purchased a full tank to last me three days, but the petrol will run out after maybe two.
Additionally, other drivers reported that their tires, jacks, and wheel spanners had been stolen. In actuality, nothing like it has ever occurred before,” he stated.
Two elderly guys and two citizen vigilante members who worked weekly shifts made up the security personnel on duty at the time of the incident.
They informed NAN that they were unaware of the theft and that the event may have occurred during Saturday’s intense winds and heavy rains.
As at the time this report was submitted, the Suleja police station was still looking into the event.
