FRSC Returns ₦1.12m Recovered from Fatal Crash Scene to Victim’s Family
The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has handed over ₦1.12 million recovered from the scene of a fatal road crash to the family of a deceased victim, underscoring its commitment to transparency and accountability.
The Corps disclosed that the money was retrieved following a tragic accident that occurred on April 11, 2026, at Idu Village along the Gegu–Abaji route. The crash involved a Toyota Corolla with registration number GWP418CV and a Volkswagen Golf marked RBC220DG.
According to the FRSC, the driver of the Volkswagen Golf, Aliyu Mohammed Bala, sustained severe injuries in the collision and was later pronounced dead at the hospital despite efforts to save his life.
Officials said a rescue team, known as the Zebra Team, recovered the sum of ₦1,120,000 alongside other personal belongings at the crash scene. The items were subsequently documented in line with the Corps’ standard procedures.
At a formal event held on April 20, 2026, the FRSC handed over the recovered money to the deceased’s family. Bala Yakubu, elder brother of the late victim, received the amount on behalf of the family in the presence of witnesses.
The handover was conducted by the Acting Unit Commander, Chief Route Commander Ojonugwa E. Ejah, alongside other senior officials of the Command.
Reacting to the development, the Corps Marshal, Shehu Mohammed, described the action as a demonstration of the agency’s ethical standards and dedication to accountability. He also extended condolences to the bereaved family and prayed for the repose of the deceased’s soul.
The FRSC reiterated its resolve to uphold professionalism and integrity in all its operations.
