Social media commentator Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), has announced a temporary withdrawal from all social media platforms.
He explained that the decision followed allegations that his content has been distracting Nigerian youths from holding the government accountable.
In a video shared on his Instagram handle, VDM said the move was intended to allow young Nigerians to focus fully on protests and civic responsibility without distractions.
“Because of the allegations and accusations that it is my posts that have been distracting the Nigerian youths from holding the government accountable, I have decided to not post again on social media during this period,” he stated.
He also challenged other influencers, celebrities, and activists to take over the digital space during his absence.
According to him, “I would expect all influencers and celebrities and activists to use this opportunity to take over, let’s watch and see.”
Speaking further in Pidgin, VDM stressed that he would step back completely from all platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube, noting that he wants to give Nigerians space to carry out protests and civic activities while he remains in the background.
