The United Arab Emirates has opened talks with the United States about establishing an economic safety net if the war involving Iran worsens, according to The Wall Street Journal.
The report said UAE central bank governor Khaled Mohamed Balama raised the idea with Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent and other senior US officials.
Sources cited by the newspaper said Emirati officials believe they have so far avoided the worst economic effects of the conflict but may require financial support if conditions deteriorate.
