Operatives of the Ogun State Police Command have arrested a security guard and two accomplices over the theft of a vehicle, recovering a stolen Lexus RX 300 SUV in the process.
The suspects-Obada Ezekiel, 27; Emmanuel Timothy, 25; and Yaya Yakubu, 27, were apprehended by officers of the Ibafo Division following a distress call and actionable intelligence.
Police spokesperson, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, said the arrest was carried out on April 18, 2026, at about 11:00 a.m., after operatives tracked the suspects to a hideout within the Ibafo axis, where the ash-coloured Lexus RX 300 was recovered.
Preliminary investigation revealed that Ezekiel, a private security guard assigned to the vehicle, allegedly conspired with the other suspects to steal the car in Lagos and transport it to Ogun State for disposal.
The suspects are currently in police custody and are expected to be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Abeokuta for further investigation and possible prosecution.
The Commissioner of Police, Ogun State Command, CP Bode Ojajuni, commended the Ibafo Division for its swift response and effective use of intelligence in apprehending the suspects and recovering the vehicle.
He also praised members of the public for providing timely information, stressing the importance of community cooperation in combating crime.
Ojajuni reaffirmed the command’s commitment to protecting lives and property, urging residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities through designated emergency channels.
