A forensic expert outlined a possible suspect profile in the Nancy Guthrie abduction.
Forensic researcher Dr. Gary Brucato sat down with Brian Entin and explained why he believes the abductor may be someone Nancy knew or had previously interacted with.
The expert revealed that 92% of women who are killed know their killers in some way.
“Up to 92% of people who are killed in the United States know their killer in some way. The estimates are between 76 and 92% according to the various literature I’ve read,” Brucato said in the latest episode of “Brian Entin Investigates.”

Brucato also observed that the masked man seen in the Nancy Guthrie surveillance footage appeared unusually calm for someone about to commit a crime.
“A lot of what we’re seeing is somebody who is way too cool under pressure, looks not even flinching under pressure,” he noted. “And when we see that, we start thinking about a person who probably has some psychopathic character structure, because even somebody who is frequently committing a crime who isn’t psychopathic is going to look a little nervous.”
The forensic expert continued, “This person took time to conceal his identity and to not leave traces but clearly is unafraid.”
Brucato explained that someone with that kind of character structure suggests that the suspect has a “long history of either inappropriate behavior that people would remember or criminal behavior.”
“The individual that is on the camera looks to me like somebody who may very well have come into contact with law enforcement previously,” he added.
Expert Suggests Multiple People Involved
Brucato believes that if Nancy Guthrie’s abduction was a “financially driven” offense, there are two possible scenarios that may have unfolded.
“Either a person or persons went in to kill this victim and made an attempt to stage an abduction,” he added. “Or went in to abduct her for financial reasons, and it went south, everything went haywire, and there was the need to eliminate the victim.”
Brucato suspects there is more than one person involved in the Nancy Guthrie kidnapping, and that one of them is the mastermind who is “living a double life.”
“So, I think that that person (the one captured in the camera) is not particularly bright, but willing to do horrible things type, that might have been asked to participate in this by some more scheming individual behind the curtain,” the expert theorized. “And if I’m right about that, the more scheming person behind the curtain is going to be somebody who is living a little bit more of a double life.”
He continued, “The type of person who would superficially look even pro-social or kind to the victim, but who has a reason to want to eliminate them. Do I think that the person who did this knew the victim? Yes, I do.”
