The Chairman and Chief Government Officer of the Nationwide Hajj Fee of Nigeria (NAHCON), Professor Abdullahi Usman, has formally confirmed his resignation.
Usman introduced his resolution in a press release issued on Tuesday in Abuja, stressing that he stepped down for private causes and denying any wrongdoing.
His resignation comes amid stories that the NAHCON board had petitioned President Bola Tinubu, searching for his elimination over alleged abuse of workplace and misconduct.
The petition, dated January 19, 2026, and signed by 11 board members, was titled “Vote of No Confidence within the Chairman of the Nationwide Hajj Fee of Nigeria, Prof. Abdullahi Saleh Usman.”
It accused the previous chairman {of financial} indiscipline, lack of transparency, and repeatedly approving expenditures and awarding contracts with out board approval and past authorized budgetary limits.
